Book of the Moment

WITH A TANGLED SKEIN
by
Piers Anthony

Why I like it:

It's Book 3 of Piers Anthony's "Incarnations of Immortality" series. It's a great read, full of imagery and fantasy. I want to have all the 7 books in the series but I only have Books 1 and 3 (I can't find a copy of the other books in our local bookstores here, dang!!

Masturbation Cuts Cancer Risk

.....while researching about prostate cancer a couple of months ago, Google pointed me to a news article on BBC with a surprising headline....curious, I read the article and was quite surprised....here's the first part of the article:

               * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Men could reduce their risk of developing prostate cancer through regular masturbation, researchers suggest.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

They say cancer-causing chemicals could build up in the prostate if men do not ejaculate regularly.

And they say sexual intercourse may not have the same protective effect because of the possibility of contracting a sexually transmitted infection, which could increase men's cancer risk.

Australian researchers questioned over 1,000 men who had developed prostate cancer and 1,250 who had not about their sexual habits.

They found those who had ejaculated the most between the ages of 20 and 50 were the least likely to develop the cancer.

The protective effect was greatest while the men were in their 20s.

Men who ejaculated more than five times a week were a third less likely to develop prostate cancer later in life.

                   * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

.....whoa!!! it is actually RECOMMENDED that guys in their 20s (me included, because I'm 26) pleasure themselves MORE THAN FIVE TIMES A WEEK to reduce their risk of having prostate cancer later in life!!.....

.....this may be welcome news to the majority.....but what about those people who actually think that masturbation is a sin??....

.....I grew up in a Catholic household,  went to a Catholic High School, attended a Catholic University, and currently employed by a Catholic College.....all those years of Values Education and Theology 101 to 108 had programmed my mind to the "wrongness" of "self gratification".....

.....now I'm not going to pretend that I am innocent or pure or whatever.....but this article really did make me think.....soul health or body health??......

....so guys, what do you think??.....

PS: The whole article is posted HERE.

i think whether or not this news comes out, guys will still milk their python (sorry for the phrase. hehe) whenever they want. this just presents another justification to the act. an encouragement that may sway even the prude catholics, whether they admit it or not. hehe
